EVALUATION OF HOMA THERAPY PILOT PROYECTS
Consernig the evaluation of pilot farms, specificlly, the HOMA project was carried out in the Farm "LA ASCENCION", in Cantagallo Nuevo, Imperial, Cañete. An area of 2.5 hectares, was planted with beans, "Castilla" variety. Date of planting was February 1st, 1999. Homa treatment began on 14th February, 1999. On February 23rd,(22 days after planting), began the evaluations conserning the incidence of plages in the bean crop, "castilla" variety, carried out by the local office of SENASA (National Service of Agrarian Health of the Peruvian Department of Agriculture), of which the Engineer Ruben Moreno S., is in Charge. The results of such evaluations are the following:
We should emphasize that the entomopatogen which caused the Epizoothy, reducing to a minimum the population of "White Fly", or "fruit fly", is possibily the fungus called Paecilomyces farinosus, since that same genus, was identifyed by specialists from the "National Program of Biological Control", affecting the same species of "white fly" in cotton plantations in the valley, during the same planting season.
Three months after HOMA THERAPY got started,
it was observed, as it is indicated in the above chart, that in the last
evaluation of this cultivation, there were few adults of "White fly", Bemisia
sp, per plant, due to the fact that these insects were affected by the
Epizoothy produced by the entomopatogen, presumably Paecilomyces
farinosus, which spontaneously appeared due to the practice of HOMA THERAPY
technics in the area.
